INFORMATION FOR CSM FACULTY AND STAFF

 

The Counseling Center facilitate academic and personal success by providing resources that enhance and extend students' learning and growh. We can more effectively accomplish this mission by collaborating with faculty and staff in the campus community who are also dedicated to student learning.

 

An Overview of Services


Counseling Center staff include one Licensed Professional Counselor, one Licensed Clinical Social Worker and one Licensed Clinical Psychologist who offer short-term counseling and referral services to students. Any full-or part-time undergraduate or graduate student, currently enrolled in four or more semester hours at CSM, is eligible for our services, which are free, voluntary and confidential.


The staff is committed to providing counseling services and preventive programs that stimulate self-understanding, strengthen skills and increase knowledge in the five dimensions of student development: Social, Emotional, Intellectual, Spiritual and Physical.

Services include the following:

  • Individual Counseling
  • Mental Health Crisis Intervention
  • Alcohol and other substances assessment, education, counseling and referral
  • Victim’s Assistance
  • Workshops (including communication, stress management, diversity, relationships, assertiveness, learning skills)
  • Referrals to mental health professionals in the community
  • Referrals to mental health providers who participate in the Special CSM the Counseling Center Referral Benefit enhancement of the Student Health Insurance Plan
  • Informational Brochures & Handouts on Various Topics
  • Internet-Based mental health screenings
  • Consultation Services for Faculty, Staff, and Residence Life

 

Location


The Counseling Cneter is located on the first floor of the Ben F. Parker Student Center, Suite #8. The office is open 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday, during the Fall and Spring semesters. Office hours vary during the summer and school breaks. After hours emergency resources can be found here.
